The vow

He held my hand when i was about to fall
Came to my aid breaking through every wall
As he was respecting the old vow
A vow that made him choose “family above all”

I always thought it was a burden he carried
But on the day he died that thought was buried
For a realisation hit me amidst the agony
My Father was fighting for the unconditional love of family

Even in his death was a lesson
That looking down at me from heaven
He must expect me to take upon the vow
And a promise to respect it with all the passion

Hoping to make him proud
I will fight till am wrapped in a shroud
Hoping that his sacrifices haven’t been in vain
I will honour the vow untill i see him again
